Being unable to express your needs and desires can cause untold frustration and for those with communication difficulties this is something they have to deal with every day. But this doesn’t mean they have to live like this for the rest of their lives. With our help, those with communication difficulties can gain advice and funding towards a device to help them express themselves.
How Does It Work?
We are a charity, so all of work relies on donations from the public, fundraisers and grants which we invest into our cause; setting lively minds free through the provision of aids to those with communication difficulties. Those in need of our help could have had lifelong issues or have recently developed them, it doesn’t matter to us – anyone with a communication difficulties can sign up to be a member of The Sequal Trust on our website to become eligible for our help.
Do You Supply the Devices?
Many people often get confused by the prospect, but we don’t actually supply the devices. Before you can apply for our help with funding, it is vital that you have trialled a range of different communication aids with a speech and language therapist and settled on the best solution together. Once this has been decided, it doesn’t matter which is suited to you we can help with funding for all manner of devices to relieve communication difficulties. Some of the most common are eye gaze technology, grid pads and iPads but there are a whole range on our communication aids page.
Why Do We Do It?
Our founders knew all too well how challenging living with communication difficulties can be and how expensive the right devices are. So, they set up our predecessor, POSSUM to try and ease the financial hardships associated with acquiring a communication device and to improve life for those with communication difficulties. We still work to the same ethos today which is to set lively minds free!
